About CGGE

Noe Valley, SF, California
Welcome Fashionistas,

My name is Gabriela Mercedes, called by friends a fashionista, avid white water rafter, soccer lover, tea enthusiast, coffee obsessed, social butterfly, and Summer 2011 Sephora USA Intern.
California Girl Gone East started out as "Fashion & Social Life" my freshman year at the University of Maryland, College Park. I had been mulling over the idea of a fashion blog for a long while, and was inspired to start a blog after my college friends began asking me to approve of their outfits or picking out my guy friends' outfits before a night out. After my friend C started her own personal blog on her thoughts, I thought why not?

New Market, Maryland
It seemed pretty natural to start a blog on fashion since it has been a part of my life since I was small. My mother was an aspiring fashion designer, and almost attended fashion school in San Francisco, but due to lack of funds this was unable to happen. Even though this setback occurred, she instilled her love to dress well in me, and fashion just became a way of life. It was not until I was older that I realized that I had a great passion for it and the industry -- this is when I moved crossed country to the east coast and was doing some soul searching.

In the beginning this blog was mainly aimed at college aged people, who needed help with fashion, or what to wear on certain outings and occasions-- hence the social life, and day to day interactions. But now I feel I have grown a lot since this blog started, and while I will still write about perfect outfits for your everyday occasions, I hope my future blog posts will hold more weight, as I hope to expand to other areas besides college life.

So now "Fashion & A Social Life" has been transformed into California Girl Gone East. My reasoning behind this transformation was to make this fashion blog more personal for myself, and allow others to get to know me better through my fashion choices and my true life experiences. I am indeed a California girl that moved east. I actually have been living on the east coast for a while now, and have grown to love it.

bye, bye

This love definitely translates into my fashion sense, because I like to mix the laid back looks of California with class of the East Coast. When I was doing my internship last summer at Sephora in downtown San Francisco, my family always commented on how "east coast" I dressed, which made me smile. So there you have it, fashion thoughts from a California girl who will put a coast to coast twist on anything.

I hope you enjoy the new chapter of fashion here at CGGE!
Remember when you look good, you feel good, so always dress to impress.

Love, J'Adore, Amor,

Gabriela Mercedes
